My name is Levi Maes, and I am very excited and enthused about the opportunity to come back to my community and serve the great people of this area as your new family doctor and medical director of La Clinica del Pueblo.
As many of you already know, I grew up in Canjilon, and graduated from Escalante HS. Over the past years, while pursing my interest and studies in medicine, I have returned home whenever possible, to visit with all my great friends and enjoy the wonderful mountains, lakes and rivers. And although I have traveled to many different areas, cities, and even countries, I still feel that there truly is no place like home, and feel very blessed to have the opportunity to come back home once again.
My interests in medicine are broad, however, I do have a particular passion for rural medicine and this is one reason I have decided to return home. I truly feel that the best way to make a healthy community is to be part of that community and work with the people, listen and provide the best evidence based practices to improve overall health. I would also like to work with community leaders in evaluating any specific healthcare concerns and working together to address any areas where La Clinica del Pueblo can be of assistance.
I feel that my training at both the University of New Mexico, as a family medicine resident, and at Good Samaritan hospital in Phoenix as a surgery resident have given me the necessary skills to make these goals a reality in our community. As a board certified family medicine doctor, I feel that I can deliver the comprehensive care needed in our community for both adults and children. I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones, and working toward making our community a healthy one.
Sincerely Levi I Maes MD
