Melissa Martinez MD is a Family Physician and Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Centers.
She has a special interest in immunizations and Co chairs the New Mexico Immunizations Practices Advisory Committee. In 2015 she was selected as a Vaccine Science and Policy Fellow by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
From 2017 to 2021 she served on the US Departments of Health’s National Vaccine Advisory Committee where she Co-Chaired the Vaccine Equity Subgroup.
In 2020 she published a paper on Vaccine Disparities.
In 2021 she was honored as a Vaccine Champion by the New Mexico Immunizations Action Collation. She is currently serving as Medical Director of the UNM Health COVID Vaccine Clinic and the UNM Medical Group Locum Tenens and Specialty Extension Services.
